USUBC MEETING WITH USTR - BETSY HAFNER, DEPUTY ASSISTANT U.S. TRADE REPRESENTATIVE & COLLEAGUES

On Friday, April 26, USUBC members had a meeting with Betsy Hafner, Deputy Assistant US Trade Representative for Russia and Eurasia, and her colleagues in Ag (SPS), TBT, and IPR in USTR office in Washington.
Betsy Hafner has been handling trade and investment issues related to Ukraine for many years. Betsy is planning a series of meetings in Kyiv in late May and USUBC members provided an update from their industries and companies before she leaves for Ukraine.
The meeting with USUBC members touched the issues and concerns that US companies have and would like for the U.S. government to consider bringing up during Betsy’s next visit to Ukraine in late May.

USTR team also mentioned some issues of concern already identified by USTR, including WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Agriculture (Sanitary and Phytosanitary Certificate), WTO refund, Eco-Design regulation etc. USUBC members appreciate a great opportunity of having a dialogue with USTR.
