WASHINGTON. D.C...A large number of Ukrainian private business leaders have already made substantial donations to medical and other organizations in Ukraine to help in the dedicated fight against COVID-19.

(1) Nibulon, proposes to detect a coronavirus using one of its tools, by which the company determines the presence of the genetically modified organism in agricultural products. Within a few days in Mykolaiv, Nibulon created a full-fledged modern laboratory center where it is possible to carry out the analysis for the presence/absence of coronavirus by Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method.

A new laboratory will operate on the basis of the Mykolayiv Oblast Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the former SES. Nibulon has also purchased 15 intubators for hospitals in Mykolaiv city and oblast at a cost of around $500,000.

(2) UFuture, purchased two lung ventilation devices and all materials for operation for the amount of 1 million 700 thousand UAH to one of the hospitals in Kyiv, and Biopharma purchased equipment for Bila Tserkva city hospital №3 (reference infectious hospital for the Kyiv region) with an amount of 5 million UAH.

“Business should do everything in its power to stop the spread of the coronavirus and bring Ukraine back to normal. First of all, we need quality and timely diagnostics.” said Vasyl Khmelnytsky, founder of UFuture. 

(3) Biopharma, which is one of the ten largest Ukrainian manufacturers of the pharmaceutical industry and specializes in human blood plasma drugs, has submitted to the laboratories of the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine equipment that will allow to determine quickly and by modern methods agents of coronavirus disease.

This decision, in conjunction with entrepreneur Vasyl Khmelnytsky’s UFuture holding company, is a continuation of a series of social initiatives undertaken by Ukrainian entrepreneurs amid a coronavirus pandemic.

The total cost of assistance from the holding companies is more than 12 million UAH. Also, masks and systems for rapid tests for Bila Tserkva hospitals will be purchased soon.

(4) SCM, Rinat Akhmetov has consolidated the efforts of all the SCM businesses, his Foundation and FC Shakhtar to assist Ukraine in its fight against coronavirus. Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov allocated UAH 300 million to help the country combat COVID-19. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation procured 300,000 test kits for the Stabilization Fund of the President of Ukraine, as well as at least 200 ventilators for state hospitals along with other equipment.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation was one of the first to join the fight against coronavirus, and since 22 February it has been providing tranches of its support package to the Health Ministry and the National Healthcare Service. This support included personal protective equipment, test kits, and other required equipment.

(5) Kernel one of the largest Ukrainian agricultural groups, allocated $2 million for the purchase of tests for COVID-19.

(6) Kadorr Group owner and Kyiv Post publisher Adnan Kivan purchased 10 ventilators for Odessa. This was announced yesterday by the Anti-Crisis Headquarters of Odessa VS COVID, which is preparing medical facilities in the city and region for the fight against coronavirus. “This is a significant contribution that will save someone's life and for many will become a hope for recovery.” – said Adnan Kivan, Kadorr Group owner.

(7) Vodafone Ukraine purchased $125,000 worth of artificial lung ventilators for hospitals in Lviv, Lutsk, Kharkiv and Zhytomyr.

(8) TIS Group, co-owner and CEO Andriy Stavnitser announced the purchase of artificial lung ventilation machines for the Odessa Infectious Diseases Hospital. The founder of TIS said that the issue of primary necessity is the purchase of artificial lung ventilation machines. The region has 72 machines, and about 30-40% of them are occupied, and some are not suitable, outdated or not equipped with consumables.

"Under an optimistic scenario, there are 40 pieces of effective and suitable for the fight against COVID-19. We bought 14 new ones, we are waiting. This is still critically few. One patient spends two or three weeks using one machine!" - Stavnitser said.

(9) Monobank, the co-founder of Monobank, Oleg Gorokhovskyi, called for raising money for five artificial ventilation. Later, Gorokhivsky wrote that in just a few hours he received more than 100 offers of help on 25 million hryvnias. The initiative, in particular, was joined by the head of LeoGaming Elena Degrik (Shevtsova), co-founders of Work.ua portal Artur Mikhno and Andriy Borovik, as well as the Oschadbank Chairman of the board Andrii Pyshnyi.

(10) The charitable foundations of Victor Pinchuk and Olena Pinchuk, donated to the hospitals of Ukraine 10 of the newest devices of artificial ventilation (IVL).

(11) Interpipe and EastOne, will be heavily involved in financing, developing a plan of action and preventive measures to combat the coronavirus, as well as informing the population of the Dnipro region about preventing measures.

As part of this initiative, the company has already allocated $ 2 million for the nationwide purchase of coronavirus tests, some of which will be sent to the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The additional funding will be allocated once plans for the region's primary needs are identified. In total, the group allocated over UAH 114 million.

(12) Agroholding company "Mironivsky Hliboproduct" (MHP), has allocated $540,000 to purchase 19 artificial lung ventilators and personal protective equipment in Vinnytsia Oblast.

(13) Alibaba Group and DCH, Ukraine received 1 million rapid testing kits from China thanks to Jack Ma, founder of the Alibaba Group, who gave $80 million for the tests, and Ukrainian businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, DCH owner.

(14) Nova Poshta the Ukrainian postal and logistics company allocated 25 million UAH for equipment and additional materials for hospitals to fight the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). “Business cannot stand aside when the country is going through tough times: the economic crisis plus the threat of spreading the coronavirus epidemic.

Now, in the new realities of life, the citizens of Ukraine whom we built a business for need our support. Therefore, we allocate UAH 25 million for equipment and additional materials for hospitals. This is our help to doctors in the fight against the virus and in maintaining people's health," said Viacheslav Klimov, Nova Poshta co-founder.

(15) Epicenter, the owners of the network Epicenter, spouses Alexander and Galina Gerega also made a "wide gesture". They are ready to spend 1% of the company's turnover on the purchase of equipment and protective equipment. In total - 40-50 million UAH per month.

(16) P&G is launching a social project with Caritas to help protect against the COVID-19 epidemic. Lonely elderly people across Ukraine will be offered a new charity service: contactless laundry. “Volunteers will collect clothing from people with disabilities, single elderly. The clothing will be washed, dried and returned clean. People will be able to worry less about cleanliness and comfort at home, and at the same time they will not need to go out into the outside world” - says Olga Klimenko, Corporate Communications Manager at Procter & Gamble.

(17) Alfa Bank Ukraine has allocated almost UAH 2 million to purchase artificial lung ventilation for the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.
