President of Ukraine
During his latest video address to the nation, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has informed about his telephone calls with President of France Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, President of the European Commission Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen, and President of the United States Joe Biden, to whom he expressed special thanks for his support. The President informed Western allies about Ukraine’s assistance needs.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the most atrocious war crimes committed by the Russian army in the last two days: “In Vorzel, Kyiv region, the Russian army used the BM-21 ‘Grad’ rocket launchers against an orphanage. Okhtyrka, in the Sumy region, was targeted with the BM-27 ‘Uragan’ rocket launcher systems. Residential areas, shelters, and kindergartens were under fire. Why is Russia fighting a war against Ukrainian children at a kindergarten? Are they also ‘neo-Nazi’? Or, are they the NATO soldiers who were ‘threatening’ Russia? Killed and wounded children are the final verdict on the nature of the invasion.”
The President reminded that numerous cities are under shelling attacks: Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, but emphasized that special attention is now paid to Ukraine’s capital Kyiv. Zelenskyy warned Ukraine’s citizens about activities of saboteurs and encouraged to obstruct them in all possible ways.
At 10 pm Kyiv time President Zelenskyy’s press secretary refuted rumors that Ukraine refused to participate in peace negotiations with Russian Federation. “Ukraine remains committed to ceasefire and peace. It is our unwavering position. We positively responded to President Putin’s proposal. As of now the sides are consulting on the place and time of these talks. The sooner these talks begin, the better chances there would be to return to normal life.”
