UIA introduces Halal meals
on flights connecting Ukraine to Middle East
Ukraine International Airlines
Kyiv, Ukraine, Wed, Jul 31, 2019
Effective August 1, 2019, Ukraine International Airlines will offer Halal meals to business class passengers of non-stop flights from Amman, Teheran, and Cairo to Kyiv.
Halal menu for UIA passengers was exclusively developed by Sky Food Services, the airline’s catering partner.
“Some passengers cannot consume standard in-flight meals due to their religious beliefs or moral principles. Therefore, we aspire to not simply offer delicious meals on board, but diversify our menu so that each guest has an opportunity to choose courses to his/her national traditions and personal preferences,” noted Volodymyr Semenchenko, UIA Vice President Ground Operations.
“We fully support UIA’s approach to organizing onboard catering, and gladly handled the request to develop the menu for passengers either confess the Islamic faith or appreciate the Halal standard,” noted Natalia Yampolska, Sky Food Services CEO. “We hope that classical Oriental dishes will appeal not only to connoisseurs but also to those trying them for the first time ever.”
All Halal marked meals onboard UIA aircraft are certified by Halal Certification Center, an independent organization supervising and ensuring food production in line with canonical norms of Islam. “We thank UIA for paying obeisance to millions of airline passengers professing Islam by introducing Halal meals on flights connecting Ukraine to the Middle East countries,” noted Ruslan Akinchits, Halal Certification Center Director.
