Ukrainian media Techno 24 has published an interview with Olexander Dondik, director of Firefly's Ukrainian subsidiary, about the work process in the Dnipro factory. While the main production, testing, and launch facilities are located in the US, Firefly relies on its Ukrainian R&D center, design bureau, and the material science laboratory, which has the best equipment in Ukraine. The rocket parts produced in Ukraine, mainly through 3D printing, are tested and shipped to the US. Also, large-scale construction of stands for fire tests is underway.

In an interview with Ars Technica Thomas Markusic says that Firefly Aerospace has submitted a bid for the CLPS program's fourth task order, 19C, to deliver scientific instruments to one of the lunar poles. Contract awards are expected in April. The deadline for the mission launch is in the latter half of 2022. The maiden flight of the Alpha LV has been postponed to this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which made the company move to two shifts, suspend travel, limit visitors, and also move employees' computers to their homes so engineers can work remotely. Markusic anticipates shipping flight hardware to Vandenberg AFB in June. Firefly is building two additional flight vehicles in parallel so that the company will be ready to go with additional flights.

In an interview with Austin Business Journal Thomas Markusic outlined Firefly's plans for 2020: apart from the successful launch, the focus is on winning government contracts that they applied for, such as CLPS, several Air Force and NASA contracts. The goal is to start generating revenue this year and getting deposits on further launches. Alpha LV program is expected to be cash-flow positive by the end of 2021, which will allow the company to support both M&A and IPO options in the future.

Firefly will launch the Spinnaker 3 drag sail prototype for orbital debris mitigation on the first flight of the Alpha LV. It's an 18-square-meter flat sail with booms three meters long, which can deorbit 400-kilogram satellites or launch vehicle upper stages from orbits as high as 600 kilometers. The project has been developed at Purdue University’s School of Aeronautics and Astronautics by David Spencer and his team.
