On November 10, 2017 in Kyiv USUBC hosted a ROUNDTABLE MEETING with OLEKSANDR DOMBROVSKYI, First Deputy Chair, Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety and MICHAEL BLEYZER, President and CEO and Founding Partner of SigmaBleyzer private equity investment group.


Mr. Dombrovskyi
commented on the energy sector reform progress, recent changes to legislation introduced by Ukrainian Parliament in order to make the sector more transparent and competitive and to unbundle the sector’s traditional monopolies. He also thanked U.S. business community and international organizations for helping to draft needed legislation and for their on-going commitment to Ukraine’s energy independence. He also mentioned how Ukraine reacts to the new trends and developments in the global energy sector and develops alternative energy sources. Mr. Dombrovsky emphasized one of the key challenges of the sector – cybersecurity.


Mr. Bleyzer
provided his insight into the sector’s history in Ukraine, challenges and priorities from the standpoint of U.S. investors and commented on the law recently adopted by the U.S. Congress to support Ukraine’s energy independence. Mr. Bleyzer also mentioned great interest of U.S. energy companies to Ukrainian energy market, once it is properly reformed and monopolised. 

The roundtable discussion was moderated by USUBC President Morgan Williams who once again emphasized that U.S.-Ukraine Business Council and its members are ready to help Ukraine’s energy sector in all of its reforming efforts.
