The history of the company's activity in Ukraine dates back to the 1950s, when Ukrainian fields were first sown with  Pioneer®  genetics.

Since the onset of the tragic war Corteva Agriscience announced its decision to suspended new sales in Russia, initiated a plan to stop production and business activity on the entire territory of the Russian federation. 

Corteva also announced in April 2022 it will  withdraw from doing business in Russia (all new business stopped from Feb, 24, declared full commercial exit from RU on April, 28 and we are implementing this plan: terminated 200+ employees, no new local production, MS% in seeds was ~20%).

At the same time Corteva is taking steps to continue providing Ukrainian farmers with access to innovative products in order to increase the level of food security and promoting the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the regions of the world at risk of famine.

Corteva’s priorities remain the safety of employees and global food security. Since the onset of the war, the company has taken all possible actions to support and protect our Ukrainian colleagues and their families, our customers, and the communities in which we operate, including through direct and indirect aid to address the immediate humanitarian needs.

We have developed close collaboration with the community where our production site is located – during last years has been done insulation of kindergarten and school, provided new ambulance car, different supplies supporting educational process, in project stage – building of road bypassing the village for lorries and pedestrian walkway from plant to center of village with lighting. We also had numerous other social activities with larger scale - women empowerment, youth engagement and community support in all Ukraine.

When the latest invasion began our company and employees organized various channels of direct aid providing financing for charitable and humanitarian projects in the amount of at least 30 million hryvnias, aimed at providing communities affected by Russia's military aggression with medicines and food, as well as the support to small farmers.

Expressing solidarity with the people of Ukraine, Corteva has raised money for the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund and for the Global FoodBanking Network as colleagues around the world donate to support Ukrainian people and communities.

CORTEVA AGRISCIENCE CHARITY AND
HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS

Global FoodBanking Network – Corteva matches employee donations worldwide dollar to dollar (multiplying every dollar donated by employee by companies budget twice) and funds the Global FoodBanking Network program, which supports a food bank in Ukraine.

Global Giving – Corteva matches the donations of employees around the world dollar to dollar (multiplying every dollar donated by employee by companies budget twice) supporting the Global Giving Crisis Fund aimed at humanitarian aid to the affected communities of Ukraine.

Aid to the victims in the liberated territories – financing the activities of the inclusive bakery Good Bread, which organized the production and delivery of 7,000 loaves of bread to the liberated villages in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

Supply of medicines from abroad – Corteva arranged financing and supply of necessary medicines for the needs of communities and hospitals in Kyiv, Poltava and Kharkiv regions, organizing the purchase of goods abroad, including tourniquets, hemostatic materials, painkillers, antibiotics, etc. Some of the materials were provided by employees through the American NGO Convoy of Hope.

"Victory Gardens" - joining the all-Ukrainian initiative aimed at the effective use of available land plots by local communities and directing available resources to the cultivation of food products and its processing by families in order to prevent a food crisis in Ukraine. The initiative is implemented by the project "Government Reform Support in Ukraine" (SURGe) with the support of the Government of Canada. Part of the equipment will be purchased with funding from Corteva.

Assistance to the Mykolayiv City Emergency Hospital - financing the purchase of equipment that will ensure the smooth operation of the institution, which is close to the zone of active hostilities.

Aid to the Military Medical Clinical Center of the North Region in Kharkiv - the company financed the purchase of electrosurgical equipment to provide modern treatment of wounded servicemen and civilians, which will significantly increase the efficiency of surgeries and improve recovery results.

Participation in the creation of a children's center for congenital heart defects in Ivano-Frankivsk - the company financed the equipment for the creation of a children's cardiosurgical center based on the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital and the Central City Clinical Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk for the purpose of conducting cardiac operations and specialized treatment of children, including evacuated from the affected regions.

Assistance to the elderly - funding to the charity fund Let's Help for the purchase of 1,800 long-term storage food kits 30 kg each for indigent single elderly people who need help and are registered in local territorial centers of social protection in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Poltava, Odesa and Zaporizhzhia regions in areas near hostilities or in newly liberated territories

Assistance to people with disabilities - financing of the Kharkiv NGO "Through The War", which takes care of the needs of people of the Kharkiv region who cannot take care of themselves. The aid received will cover the food, medical and other services needs of 120 families for a month.

TalentA  - an educational grant program for women farmers from rural areas, aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills and allocating grants of 2.1 million hryvnias in the fall of 2022 for the restoration of farming and community support.

Volunteer initiatives of employees - Corteva employees constantly help victims on their own initiative. Colleagues from Ukraine and other countries collect money, humanitarian aid (medicine, food, equipment, generators) for affected regions of Ukraine and accommodate refugees.
