YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND A USUBC WORKING BUSINESS LUNCHEON BRIEFING with members of the Ukrainian Parliament on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m.  The USUBC Business Luncheon is organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA, and will take place at the offices of McLarty Associates, a member of U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), www.USUBC.org, at 900 17th St NW #800, Washington, DC 20006. The meeting will cover a wide range of issues from improving the investment and business climate,  implementation of the reform program, international relations, privatization, combating corruption etc.

The members of Ukrainian delegation will bring some opening remarks followed by a discussion/Q&A session.  This is a rare and unique opportunity to engage with influential members of the Ukrainian Parliament on a variety of key issues.  You will not want to miss this meeting.

BIOS:

1) Artur Herasymov, Chair, Subcommittee on Military-Industrial Complex and Military-Technical Cooperation of the Verkhovna Rada’s National Security and Defense Committee;
Chair, Permanent Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe; Chair, “Petro Poroshenko Bloc” Faction in the Verkhovna Rada; Member, U.S. Caucus at the Verkhovna Rada. On May 30, 2016, President Poroshenko appointed Mr. Herasymov to be the President’s Representative at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and on April 3, 2017, “Petro Poroshenko Bloc” Faction in the Verkhovna Rada elected him to be the Head of the Faction. Prior to his political career, Mr. Herasymov worked at “Ukrainian Marketing Group” company including holding positions of Director and CEO.

 2) Andriy Pavelko, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee

Deputy Chair of Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction in the Verkhovna Rada. Mr. Pavelko was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2012 and served on the Verkhovna Rada Committee of Fuel and Energy, Nuclear Policy and Safety and then chaired the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee. President of the Federation of Football of Ukraine since 2015.

3) Pavlo Unguryan, Deputy Chair, Special Control Committee on Privatization, Verkhovna Rada [Parliament] of Ukraine;
Chair, Subcommittee on State Budget Revenues of the Verkhovna Rada’s Budget Committee; Deputy Member, Permanent Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe; Member, U.S. Caucus at the Verkhovna Rada. In summer 2014, Mr. Unguryan held the position of Deputy Minister of Ecology and National Resources of Ukraine; his prior career included positions related to ecology at Odesa City Council and the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine. In 2008-2012, Mr. Unguryan was a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine where he was a member of the Social Policy and Labor Committee as well as the Special Committee on Privatization.

4) Oksana Yurynets, Chair, Subcommittee on Regional and Cross-Border Cooperation between Ukraine and the EU Countries of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration;
Member, Permanent Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO Countries...Oksana Yurynets was one of only two women elected to Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, in by-district races in 2014. Ms. Yurynets first entered regional politics in 2010 when she was elected to the Lviv Oblast Council. Ms. Yurynets continues to teach at her alma mater, “Lvivska Polytechnica” National University at the Corporate Management Department.

5) Anton Herashchenko, Secretary, Verkhovna Rada [Parliament] of Ukraine Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement

Member, Permanent Delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)
Mr. Gerashchenko was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2014; at the time he was an Advisor to the Minister of the Interior of Ukraine. His prior political career includes being a member of Kharkiv City Council from 2002 to 2006 and the Head of Krasnohrad Rayon State Administration (Kharkiv Oblast). Prior to that, Mr. Herashchenko worked as Resource Management Economist at KharkivOblEnergo (Kharkiv Oblast Energy Distribution Company).In January 2017, the SBU announced that it prevented an attempt on Mr. Herashchenko’s life.

6)Oleh Kryshyn, Secretary, Tax and Customs Policy Committee, Verkhovna Rada [Parliament] of Ukraine; Member, U.S. Caucus at the Verkhovna Rada

Prior to his election to the Verkhovna Rada in 2014, Mr. Kryshyn was a member of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council. Mr. Kryshyn has an Engineer degree in metallurgy and Economist-Engineer degree from the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine.

7) Iuriy Artemenko, Chair of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine (not MP)
Prior to this appointment in 2014, he served as Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine. He was a member of the Verkhovna Rada from 2002 to 2005 and from 2006 to 2007, serving as Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information and the as Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy, Natural Resources and Elimination of Consequences of the Chornobyl Catastrophe. In 2005 Mr. Artemenko was the Head of Zaporizhzhya Oblast Administration. He also hold various positions on the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, served as Advisor to the IREX International Fund. He was a Founder, Board Member and Vice-President of the Ukrainian Association of Press Publishers, Chair of the Public Council under the State Committee for TV and Radio of Ukraine.
