We would like to inform you that on September 27, 2017 new Law regulating employment and residence of foreigners in Ukraine came into force. New rules significantly simplify the procedure of obtaining the permission for the employment of foreign citizens, refugees and stateless persons and also grant benefits to certain categories of persons when they obtain a residence permit in Ukraine. The changes will affect the following key points:

Work permit

• The need to get medical certificates that confirm the absence of serious infectious diseases as well as the need  to confirm the absence of criminal proceedings and / or crimes against foreigners has been canceled;
• Depending on the category of foreigners the permit can be issued for a period of up to 3 years (owners of companies in Ukraine, graduates of higher education institutions from the international rating TOP-100, professionals of IT sphere and others)
• The foreigners must receive a salary in amount not less than 5 minimum wages (about EUR 600) for employees of non-profit organizations, 10 minimum wages (about EUR 1,200) for employees of other categories;

Residence permit

• The owners of Ukrainian companies will be able to obtain a temporary residence permit for a period of up to two years for the purpose of controlling. The basis for this will be the fact of ownership of a share (the implementation of foreign investment) in the authorized capital of a legal entity in an amount which is equivalent to not less than EUR100 thousand at the date of payment.

It is expected that the approved changes will increase the inflow of foreign investment into the country, which will have a positive effect on the development of the Ukrainian economy.
