YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND a private USUBC sponsored lunch with Denys Nizalov, Academic Director, Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), in Washington, D.C., organized by the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) and hosted by Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE). The Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) is a world-class academic institution with a reputation for excellence both in Ukraine and internationally. The Kyiv School of Economics is a member of USUBC.
KSE Academic Director Denys Nizalov will make a presentation about the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), http://www.kse.org.ua, its expanding higher economic education program, the business supported scholarship program and discuss the critical development of world-class business and economic education in Ukraine. His presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
The USUBC lunch will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the 4th Floor Conference Room at Peterson Institute for International Economics, 1750 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20036. KSE offers internationally recognized two-year, full time English language Master’s Programs in Economic Analysis and in Financial Economics taught by international and Western-trained Ukrainian faculty who have strong backgrounds in teaching and research. The program’s curriculum is modeled on the best economic graduate programs in North America and Western Europe.

KSE is governed by an international Board of Directors. The Board is co-chaired by Anders Aslund, Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and a Senior Advisor to USUBC and by Regina Yan, Chief Operating Officer at the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
The KSE board includes Irina Paliashvili, President and Senior Counsel at RULG-Ukrainian Legal Group, a member of USUBC and a member of the USUBC executive committee. Edilberto Segura, Partner, Chief Economist, SigmaBleyzer and Chair of the Advisory Board of The Bleyzer Foundation is a part-time faculty member at KSE. Dr. Segura is also a Senior Advisor to USUBC. SigmaBleyzer and The Bleyzer Foundation are members of USUBC.

INFORMATION: KYIV SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS
Annually the Kyiv School of Economics, http://www.kse.org.ua/, accepts about 55 new students to the first year of the program. Total of about 80-90 first and second year students receive education at KSE each year. The total cost of the education is EURO 10,000 per student per year. Generous support of sponsors allows KSE to set tuition at the level of only EURO 3,000 a year and provide full scholarships to about 30 students a year. In addition, about 40 students receive partial scholarships and pay reduced tuition of EURO 1,500.
Private individuals fund two scholarships at the KSE: the Alumni Scholarship and the Peter Kennedy Memorial Fellowship (http://www.kse.org.ua/aboutus/fellowship.htm). Companies traditionally support KSE by funding a course, a faculty chair, or a student scholarship.
The course, faculty chair, or student scholarship are named after the funding organization. Currently, KSE has Citibank and Dragon Capital scholarships, and a student loan program by Swedbank. Since 1996, KSE has produced over 500 graduates. Eighty-five graduates have already received a Ph.D. degree from Western universities; 10 of those graduates teach at KSE on full- or part- time basis.
KSE alumni work in leading positions at the top financial and policy-making institutions in Ukraine, or earned recognition as excellent economists in the USA and Western Europe. A number of USUBC member companies employ KSE/EERC graduates, including SigmaBleyzer, Citibank, Ernst&Young, KPMG, Phoenix Capital, SCM, and others.
