Avellum Partners Supports Jessup Ukraine and Hosts Pre-Jessup Judges Meeting

Avellum Partnerswas happy to support the Ukrainian National Rounds of 2015 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition(“Jessup Competition”) and host a Pre-Jessup Judges Meeting in its office on 18February 2015.
This year nineteams from the top law schools in Ukraine participated in the Ukrainian rounds of Jessup Competition. Theywere judged by legal practitioners from the leading law firms operating inUkraine, including Avellum Partners, which is represented by five judges:Mykyta Stetsenko, the Managing Partner, and Associates Yuriy Nechayev,Oleksandr Polonyk, Artem Shyrkozhukhov, and Andriy Gumenchuk.
Avellum Partners traditionally supports moot court competitions considering themamong efficient means to develop legal profession in Ukraine by investing intoquality education of law students.
Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot CourtCompetition is the world's largest moot court competition, with participantsfrom over 600 law schools in more than 80 countries. The competition is asimulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the InternationalCourt of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. One team is allowedto participate from every eligible school. Teams prepare oral and writtenpleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case. Moststudents must first compete in national and regional competitions (mostly heldin January-March) to earn the right to advance to the International Rounds heldevery spring in Washington, D.C.
