Mykola Kozyubra

Judge Mykola Kozyubra joined the faculty of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy School of Law in 2003 as professor.  Judge Kozyubra is the chairman of the Department of Government and Legal Studies and head of the Master’s in Law program.  Professor Kozyubra served on several major nation-building committees.  He served on the Committee to Draft the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine, the  Committee to Draft Ukraine’s Constitution, and numerous other committees of national significance. By Presidential Decree, he was appointed to serve as Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, where he served from 1996 until January 2004. Professor Kozyubra is a Doctor of Legal Sciences, he is the recipient of the Honored Lawyer of Ukraine award, he is a member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and a member of the Ukrainian Academy of Political Science. Mykola  Kozyubra is the author of over 200 publications on the theory of law and constitutional law. He was awarded the Presidential Order of the III Degree for his work on behalf of his country.

Volodymyr A. Vasilenko, professor of law at Kyiv-Mohyla School of Law, is an eminent lawyer, who has received the highest honors in Ukraine.  He is recognized as an authority and legal scholar in international law.  Dr. Vasilenko received his doctorate in law from the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. He received numerous national and international awards, including the  “Honored Lawyer of Ukraine” award.  He served his country in numerous positions including as Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Ukraine’s Representative in the United Nations Council on Human Rights (since 2006), Commissioner of Ukraine in the International Court of Justice at the United Nations in the case between Romania and Ukraine on the dispute of maritime delimitation in the Black Sea. Professor Vasilenko was involved in drafting the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine and the development of the final document.
Dr. Vasilenko’s experience and positions also include: Head of the Ukrainian Delegation at the UN Conference on the “Law of Treaties Between States and International Organizations”, (Vienna, 1986); Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) (1998-2002); Judge ad hoc at the  International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (2002-2005); and numerous UN conferences.
