On October 27, 2014 the President of Ukraine orderedthe establishment of the Judicial Reform Advisory Council under the Presidentof Ukraine. Sergiy Shklyar, Attorney-at-law, Founding Partner and Head ofDispute Resolution at Arzinger Law Office, became member of the Council.Experts from Arzinger are highly regarded at the state level.
The imminent tasks of the newly established AdvisoryCouncil are to prepare and submit proposals to the President regarding thejudiciary and justice reform strategy and to develop action plans to implementthe same, to prepare legislation improvement proposals, and to review andevaluate proposals and initiatives by government agencies, civil societyinstitutions and international organizations regarding the mentioned issues. Inaddition, the Council will monitor the implementation and analyze the effect ofthe above strategy in Ukraine as well as enable communication with the publicand international community in the course of development, implementation andmaintenance of the judiciary and justice reform strategy.
The Council includes heads of relevant centralexecutive authorities, President of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Chairman ofthe Council of Judges of Ukraine, chairmen of high specialized courts, Chairmanof the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, Prosecutor General of Ukraineas well as representatives of legal associations, law schools and research institutions,relevant international organizations, and leading legal experts.
