The Kyiv School of Economics is a member of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), Washington, D.C., www.usubc.org. Irina Paliashvili, President and Senior Counsel, RULG-Ukrainian Legal Group, a member of the USUBC Executive Committee, serves on the Kyiv School of Economics board of directors. Dr. Anders Aslund, Senior Fellow, the Peterson Institute of International Economics, a long-time Senior Advisor to USUBC, is a founding member of the board of directors of the Kyiv School of Economics. Private, independent higher education in Ukraine, especially in business, finance and economics, is critically important for the future development of Ukraine as a strong, independent, democratic, private market driven, prosperous nation.

3. AN OVERVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AT KSE
The Kyiv School of Economics, founded by EERC and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, is a world-class academic institution with a reputation for excellence both in Ukraine and internationally. KSE offers internationally recognized full time Master’s Programs in Business Economics, Financial Economics and Economic Analysis taught in English by international and Western-trained Ukrainian faculty who have strong backgrounds in teaching and research. The programs’ curricula are modeled on the best economic, financial, and business graduate programs in North America andWestern Europe. Students are provided with an access to the world economics literature and various informational resources.

4. Ernst & Young Provides Scholarships to KSE Students
Ernst & Young has recently joined the group of KSE donors sponsoring scholarships for two KSE first-year students, Zoriana Podilchuk and Anton Vorush.

5. Company Lectures and Presentations at KSE
The Kyiv School of Economics is actively looking for practitioners to give guest lectures to KSE students. The purpose of such lectures is to bring 'real life' examples and experience to the KSE classroom.

6. Employment of KSE Alumni
Since 1998, KSE graduated 482 students. The majority of the KSE graduates works in the private sector (71%). Fourteen percent of KSE alumni works in academia and the remaining 15% are employed in the public sector.
KSE graduates occupy various positions: 11% of alumni occupy top managerial positions, like Vice President, CFO, and Director; 20% of graduates hold middle level managerial positions (Project Manager, Investment Manager, Portfolio Manager); 10% are heads of various departments and divisions. Thirty-six percent of KSE graduates works as analysts and consultants.
Major employers of the KSE graduates, are:

— Deloitte – 9 graduates
— Dragon Capital – 3 graduates
— Ernst & Young – 9 graduates

Also, 5 graduates are employed by the EBRD, 2 by the IMF, 6 by the IFC, and 3 by the World Bank.

8. The KSE Team made the best presentation at the Final of the 2ndCFA Institute Research Challenge in Ukraine!
On January 24, 2012 the team of the Kyiv School of Economics (consisting ofArsenie Ciobanu, Sergii Kiiashko, Sergiy Meleshchuk and Amet Seitibraimov) participated in the Finals of the 2nd CFA Institute Research Challenge in Ukraine.
They obtained the highest score for the presentation and the second place overall
In addition, the KSE team received nominations for:
— “The best questions to Company Management” by Milkiland N.V.
— “The best Team Work” by Dragon Capital.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual educational initiative that promotes best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts. It offers students the unique opportunity to learn from leading industry experts and compete with peers from the world’s top finance programs.
9. KSE Student Andrii Sorokhan Will Represent Ukraine at the CIS Final in Moscow of KPMG’s International Case Competition 2012
KSE first-year students Andrii Sorokhan is among the winners of the Kyiv round of KPMG’s International Case Competition 2012. He will represent Ukraine at the CIS Final held in Moscow on February 29, 2012.
The winning team of the CIS Final will compete for the main prize in Hong Kong in spring 2012.

11. KSE Outreach Events
KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics
The Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) in cooperation with CFA Ukraine, GMC, and Case Champ with informational support from Hh.ua conducted a final round of the KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics on January 18, 2012.
More than 50 students, the winners of the regional competition, were invited to Kyiv to participate in the final round of the Olympiad.
Based on the results of the competition, the winners of the Olympiad were announced as the following:
1st Prize
— Andrij Zhubryd, Lviv National University of I.Franko (economic cybernetics)
2nd and 3rd Prize – shared between:
— Yaroslav Zatsiha, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (mechanics and mathematics)
— Kateryna Grunska, Donetsk National University (economic cybernetics)
— Denys Ivan’o, National Mining University (economic cybernetics).
KSE International Student Conference on “20 Years after the Soviet Union: Economic Achievements and Challenges”
The Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), with informational support from Hh.ua, organized its Annual International Students Conference. The conference was held in Kyiv on December 3 and dedicated to the topic “20 Years after The Soviet Union: Economic Achievements and Challenges.”
Forty students and young researchers throughout the CIS presented their works on the conference topic and competed for monetary prizes.
The conference was opened by Viktor Pynzenyk, Honored Economist of Ukraine and Former Ukraine’s Minister of Finance.
