DLA Piper advised FAIRMONT ON FAIRMONT GRAND HOTEL KYIV project

Kyiv, Ukraine - DLA Piper provided full legal support to Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI, a leading global hotel company with over 100 hotels under the Fairmont, Raffles, and Swissôtel brands) on the opening of the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv project (a 258 room luxury property, situated in the historic Podil district). The opening of the hotel was announced 27 March in Kyiv.
The DLA Piper team provided Fairmont with the following legal support: drafting the hotel management agreement and helping the client in negotiation and execution of the agreements with the Owner, a Ukrainian development group. DLA Piper also advised on the tax implications of the project and undertook a antimonopoly review, prepared a submission to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and assisted the client in obtaining of the respective approvals for management of the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv.
Previously, DLA Piper has helped FRHI with the negotiation and execution of two other hotel management agreements for Swissôtel properties in Odessa and Kyiv, Ukraine.
DLA Piper's team was led by Scott Antel, Partner and Head of Hospitality in CIS (Moscow), who was supported by Maryna Bychkova, Associate (Kyiv). Galyna Zagorodniuk and Alla Gavrushko, Senior Associates with the Kyiv office, supervised the work provided within the project from the Ukrainian side. Tax advice was provided by the tax team led by Svitlana Musienko, Partner and Head of Tax, supported by Illya Sverdlov, Senior Associate.
