WASHINGTON, D.C. - Clifford Chance, the first United Kingdom 'magic circle' law firm to open an office in Ukraine, has been approved for membership in the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), the USUBC executive committee announced today on behalf of the entire USUBC membership. The USUBC membership consists of 147 companies and organizations who have business operations, investments or other development programs in Ukraine.
Clifford Chance opened their Kyiv office in late 2008 and have advised local and international clients in Ukraine since the 1990s. They have 29 offices in 20 countries including New York City and Washington, D.C. In 2009 and 2010 Clifford Chance was one of the largest law firms in the world in terms of gross revenue.
The Kyiv office works closely with their Frankfurt, London, Moscow, Warsaw and US offices and throughout the Clifford Chance network. The Kyiv office specialises in debt restructuring, banking and finance, capital markets, corporate and M&A, and real estate.
Since opening in 2008, Clifford Chance has worked with both international and local clients on a broad range of high profile debt and corporate restructurings, regulatory and compliance situations, corporate, capital markets and real estate transactions.
Clifford Chance is the leading firm for providing legal advice in connection with the first green shoots of post-credit crisis commercial activity in Ukraine, particularly in the areas of capital markets, M&A, portfolio trading, new lending and project finance.

USUBC has been working closely with Clifford Chance managing partner in Kyiv, Jared Grubb, and with two young Ukrainian attorneys at Clifford Chance, Andriy Olenyuk and Andriy Moskalyk, who recently attended law school in Washington, D.C.

USUBC MEMBERSHIP EXPECTED TO REACH 150 BY END OF 2010
USUBC now has 147 members. Membership of the USUBC in January 2005 was originally eight and 22 in January of 2007. Membership is now expected to reach 150 by the end of 2010.
